It’s time for the final column of the season, although I’ll be sharing some tips on CBS Sportsline during Championship Week. It’s also the last chance for multiple teams to earn their sixth bowl qualifier victory — not to mention all the trophies to be won. The Old Oaken Bucket game between Indiana and Purdue is included below.

Each week I’ll use this space to share with you some of the best bets for the weekend. I’ll also throw in a surprise of the week by picking a team that’s at least a touchdown underdog to win outright.

I’ll also give you tips on other games involving potential college football playoff teams. Now that the CFP rankings are published weekly, I will be selecting games with teams that are either unbeaten or come from a major conference with no more than one loss.

It was a mixed bag again last week but I’m still in positive territory for the season. I want to end on a high note in a week where you never really know what you’re going to get. Teams have different motivations when the season comes to an end. Some are playing the trick, some are trying to beat a rival, and some are trying to stay alive for the college football playoffs.

Pick of the week 13

State of Iowa at #4 TCU:

Featured Game | TCU Horned Frogs vs Iowa State Cyclones

The state of Iowa has one of the best defenses in the country, ranking eighth overall nationally and scoring one goal defense. On the other side of the ball, however, they’re almost as bad. TCU has led a strong offense into an unbeaten season but will have to rely more on their defense this time. To his credit it has previously. The state of Iowa has not allowed more than 31 points in a game. If it can’t keep the TCU to more than 35, the Under should hit. Selection: Below 47.5

#3 Michigan in the state #2 Ohio

Featured Game | Ohio State Buckeyes versus Michigan Wolverines

The game we’ve all been waiting for. These two have also been beating up Rans for a few weeks now with few exceptions. This is a stylistic contrast as the Buckeyes try to blind you with offense and Michigan thrash you with running play and defense. Wolverine’s running back Blake Corum believes he will be ready after leaving last week’s win against Illinois with an injury. If one team runs away with it, it’s probably Ohio State, but it’s hard to imagine that happening for either team. Choice: Michigan +7.5

Purdue in Indiana

Featured Game | Indiana Hoosiers vs. Purdue Boilermakers

That line isn’t nearly as hilarious as last week’s Purdue-Northwestern line, but the Boilermakers’ lead in wins over FBS opponents is still just 5.8 points. Also, Purdue could do without its top running back Devin Mockobee. The Boilers should still win, but Indiana will keep it tight. Choice: Indiana +10

trouble of the week

Coastal Carolina at James Madison

Featured Game | James Madison Dukes vs. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

The Chanticleers are without quarterback Grayson McCall, who was lost for the season in the Nov. 3 win over Appalachian State. Substitute Jason Garrett and Coastal’s usual strong running game led them to a win over Southern Miss in the Chants’ first game without McCall. Now they travel to James Madison to host the conference title game on the line. The Dukes had a good FBS debut, but Coastal Carolina is still the team to beat in this league. This line is too much. Choice: Coastal Carolina (+430)
